Monday April 16, 2007 - Water Rescue
yet again after a record amount of rainfall the
Willimantic river swelled over its banks and flooded several roads in and
around Coventry. Flanders River Road which frequently floods when the
Willimantic river gets above flood stage was the scene of this incident.
CVFA received a call around mid morning of a vehicle stranded with the occupant still inside.
The first unit arrived on scene and found a minivan in about 2 to 3 feet of
water with the occupant inside. CVFA along with help from NCFD and
Manchester 8th District helped get the individual out of the vehicle without
incident. We also assisted the tow truck operator with hooking up the
car and getting it out of the water. (Pictures courtesy of D.

Here is the scene from the other side of the flooded out area. Looking down at the scene prior to the tow truck arriving. Gearing up for the rescue. Nice to see we still enjoy our work.
